And really, while I missed the whole Vanilla era, even for me the current version of WoW seems hugely reduced in complexity and density from when I played during WotLK. It's interesting to compare WoW with the hugely less successful but considerably more extended and developed EQ2, especially since they are exactly the same age. EQ2 is so layered, complex and sprawling now that the most intimidating thing about is trying to hold it all in the imagination at once. WoW on the other hand seems to have compacted and shrunk in some ways. Presumably it's because SOE/DBG tend to add without taking away while Blizzard constantly prunes and consolidates. I prefer the sprawl.Bhagpusshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03499162165023939880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-86246405606858377472017-11-04T23:27:58.441+00:002017-11-04T23:27:58.441+00:00Even in the time I’ve been playing, I’ve seen many...Even in the time I’ve been playing, I’ve seen many quest sequences changed and made less interesting. Changes to dungeons, still ongoing at all levels, aren’t welcome by me. I hate to say the world used to be a richer place, but it was.
SWG memory time: When Wow came out people in our guild were leaving to play it like mad, and they said things like “there’s just so much to do” and “You can just drop in and play then drop back out”. Not compelling arguments for me, but clearly many loved it.
So I’ll time machine back and see what I missed.Atherenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773969634802702992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-42596092351444924622017-11-04T18:04:28.081+00:002017-11-04T18:04:28.081+00:00Me too, although not for nostalgic reasons. I didn't play WoW until WotLK so it'll all be new to me no matte r how "old" it is.Bhagpusshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03499162165023939880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-24422800341167667542017-11-04T18:01:50.369+00:002017-11-04T18:01:50.369+00:00They are clearly 100% committed to making it happe...They are clearly 100% committed to making it happen so I don't really have any doubt that it will. They have completely killed the leveling portion of the live game and I wouldn’t mind checking out the alliance quests this time around.pixelrevisionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04407680367407131024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-53989951526289999252017-11-04T05:25:56.956+00:002017-11-04T05:25:56.956+00:00In interview they said that there are no deadlines...In interview they said that there are no deadlines for this project, they will take their time to get everything right. Nevertheless, this announcement was probably the best part of Blizzcon and with new expansion fixing quite a few problems of the game (insane stat inflation, leveling where you can't stay in one zone for more than 20 or so quests before everything turns gray, completely unbalanced world PvP and so, and so on) I definitely like the direction they are taking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
