It's Such A Lonely Time Of Year - Nancy Sinatra

  1. I’ve only ever heard “These Boots Were Made for Walking” from her. Thanks!

    1. I very strongly recommend most of her work, especially the stuff she did with Lee Hazelwood. I love both their voices and he's a great songwriter. She was, for a while, both his muse and his very adept interpreter. They're best together but they're also both excellent alone.

  2. She really knows how to play to the camera. I'd only really heard her on radio or albums (or in Full Metal Jacket), not watched her videos. The irony is that I've started in on James Kaplan's two book biography of Frank Sinatra, so I'm a bit more invested in this than I normally would be.

    1. Nancy is hugely underrated, I think. Her career was a bit of a Catch-22. Being Frank's daughter obviously gave her a huge boost in name recognition and gave her fast-track into the music business but once she got there, her name meant no-one took her seriously or thought of her as anything other than "Frank's daughter". She's in that weird situation of being a a secret kept in plain view - she's a great singer and performer and yet she's all but vanished even while Frank is as famous as ever.
