In the end it's group play that I see as the odd duck in MMOs. My impression even back in the early days was always that people grouped because they had to, not because they wanted to. There were exceptions to that but it always seemed that as soon as any content got added that could be soloed but gave rewards similar to group content almost everyone flocked to do it and only stopped when the developers spotted the loophole and closed it.Bhagpusshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03499162165023939880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-37529538290735495802015-12-15T12:50:12.691+00:002015-12-15T12:50:12.691+00:00Sorry, very late reply - missed these comments som...Sorry, very late reply - missed these comments somehow...

Group roles I am 100% with you on. I don't believe for a moment tight, focused group roles are incompatible with soloing, either. We have "PvP only" and "PvE only" abilities and gear in many MMOs; why's it so hard to have different abilities for solo and group content, especially since most group content has been instanced in most MMOs for a decade?

I like the Player Shop route if it's well-handled. It's a bit more personal than the game-wide auction house but a lot more convenient than having to match diaries with someone on the other side of the world.

EQ's Bazaar is my favorite MMO trading system ever. FFXIV was going to have a similar one originally but they completely stuffed it up along with the rest of the game and dropped it in the revamp. All I want is to have an online world that asks me to be social. I don't mind talking to crafts, but it needs to be more reasonable than every five levels and there needs to be an easy way of placing that order and getting it sent instantly. I don't HAVE to meet directly with the person.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00289459451344261371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1510920011443550663.post-66433803992195119802015-11-30T21:35:19.646+00:002015-11-30T21:35:19.646+00:00I guess i'm a bit different in that i long for...I guess i'm a bit different in that i long for the days of required interdependence. I welcome the bad with the good though and understand what to expect. Then again, i play for the social interactions and don't find much fun in soloing.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16516677270703152907noreply@blogger.com
