Living Story Season One
Two-Week Content Delivery Cycle -
C Minus
Too fast for ANet's quality control to keep up. Buggiest MMO I have ever played. Yes, literally.
Content/Events -
B Minus
Patchy, inconsistent, variable, but on an improving trend. A
slowly improving trend.
Plot - B Minus
Intriguing. Needs some tightening up but certainly had its moments.
Narrative -
B
Not at all bad.
Meandering and episodic but structurally inventive and daring, if occasionally obtuse.
Pacing -
C Minus
Glacial. Stuttering. O v e r s t r e t c h e d.
Characters -
B Plus
Likeable. Emotionally involving. A success. (Sit down, Kiel. No-one's talking about you).
Dialog -
B Plus
Above par for the genre. Solid, satisfying, entertaining.
Graphics -
A Minus
The high point. Consistently inventive, innovative and impressive. Art Department, take a bow.
Finale -
B
Hmm.
Hmmm. Inconclusive. Satisfingly unsatisfying. Intriguing.
Overall -
B Minus
Could do better. Should do better.
Will do better.
As will I, when I have more time. Right now I have a city to save.
I have high hopes for the Living Story Second Season, now with more Elder Dragons. We saw that Anet learned some lessons about how to tell a story.
ReplyDeletePlay Defiance and you know what a buggy MMORPG is...
ReplyDeletealso, the saying "Never play on release day" is ages old, complaining about bugs of a new release within the first 24 to 48 hours of it is like complaining that your VW Beetle cant outrace a F1 car.
