Day Twenty

I Don't Intend To Spend Christmas Without You

 Margo Guryan

  1. It has that 60s/70s vibe, and the cartoon graphics evoking the Schoolhouse Rock style really hits hard. The upbeat sound belies the lyrics about the "I want you back" focus. I thought it odd to me that this didn't hit me as hard as the lyrics from Merry Christmas from the Family did, and I can't really put my finger on why.

    1. It is a genuine 60s recording, as far as I know. She's one of those singer-songwriters who made one or two albums in the 60s or 70s and then disappeared until the internet revived their careers or at least drew attention to them forty or fifty years later. I keeep running across new examples - there are probably hundreds of them by now.
