Hard Time Walking

Footnote: Blogger managed to lose the entire post before I could publish it but luckily I had the Preview up on screen. I was able to recreate it with a series of screenshots using Windows 10's handy screenshot clipboard. Certainly better than having to retype the whole thing.

  1. In some ways, the mess that is the whole leveling progression system speaks volumes about Blizzard's decision to delay the launch of Shadowlands. It's like a abstract puzzle where you are almost done, but still have many parts that refuse to fit together. I hope they get everything fixed and don't treat it as "that's so _last_ patch" as they like to do with 'older' content. :/

    1. When I was playing last night someone logged on very excited and started counting down the hours until Shadowlands launched... until several people informed them it had been delayed. A lengthy conversation followed in trade chat about when it might actually happen and the consensus seemed to be January. People seemed surprisngly unbothered about the delay. I'm guessing that anyone who has been paying attention (unlike the first person!) probably feels the longer the better. It seems very obvious the whole thing's not ready to go Live yet, even the parts that already have.

    2. I expect the delay to be all about the new content. In this case with the level squish, what you see is what you're going to get from here on out.

  2. For the Vulpera unlock you'll need to have completed the "Secrets in the Sands" achievement. It might be worth leveling through Vol'dun if nothing else.

    1. Ah! Thanks for pointing that out. I knew I'd need to do a series of quests but I hadn't yet read up the details and I had it in mind that I'd need to be the equivalent of BfA's original starting level for that, which under the squish would be 45. I'd been missing the fact that, of course, you can level up from 10 to 50 in BfA now so I really should have checked how soon I could get started on those quests.

And the answer is at level 35, or at least the in-game map has Vol'dun marked as a 35-50 zone. So I just need to get my Horde Shaman to 35 to get started on the zone. Or, I guess, I could take one of my 35+ Alliance characters there to do it now there's no Horde-locked faction requirement. Not 100% sure about that...

    2. Oh right, I didn't realise the BfA zones had level requirements now! Leveling from 110 to 120 was "take your pick, do them in any order".

The "Secrets in the Sands" achievement is Horde-only though. Each faction does dip into the other faction's zones for the War Campaign but it's minimal and doesn't count toward those zones' story achievements.

    3. I did the "Secrets of the Sands" achievement yesterday. It took about two hours with a level 50 paladin who had flying unlocked. Doing it on the ground will take longer, but it is still manageable. The zones scale, so theoretically 35 and 50 are no different.
