    And here I thought Elephant Stone's song was out there. The only thing missing is a bit of a disco beat and it'd fit right in with the late 70s, because the longer it kept going the more I thought of MECO. Or maybe Parliament Funkadelic.

      Not sure how well-known Hawkwind are in the US. They're an absolute pillar of the rock establishment over here and in Europe. Probably Japan too, I wouldn't be surprised. They're also the first band I ever went to see play live, back in 1972 when I was thirteen or fourteen. This is from thirty years or so later. They haven't changed much.

      I haven't heard about them at all, although I saw the name Hawkwind and immediately thought of Dorian Hawkmoon --a character from a Michael Moorcock series-- instead.
